What cookies are and why we use them
A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to store on your computer, tablet or phone. When you return, the file is sent back to us, so the site can recognise your browser and remember what happened last time.
We also use technologies that work in a similar way, including pixels, tags, software kits inside mobile apps and storage built into your browser. Where this policy says cookies, it covers all of them.
Cookies do a job on every page. Without them we could not keep you signed in between the lobby and the cashier, remember the settings you chose, or tell whether a page is loading correctly. They also help keep accounts safe: we hold a gaming licence, we verify every account, and cookies help us spot unusual sign-in activity.
Our site is for adults aged 18 and over, and some cookies support the safer gambling controls in your account so that deposit limits, time-outs and self-exclusion keep working.
This policy sits alongside our Privacy Policy
Information read or set by cookies can also be personal data. Our Privacy Policy explains what we do with it, how long we keep it and what rights you have.
The types of cookies we use
We group the cookies on our site into four categories. Strictly necessary cookies are always on, because the site cannot run without them. The other three are set only if you agree in the cookie notice, and you can change your mind at any time.
Strictly necessary cookies
These keep the site working and your account secure. They are not used for advertising, and we do not ask for consent to set them.
- Keeping you signed in as you move between the lobby, your account and the cashier.
- Carrying a deposit or withdrawal through each step of the cashier without losing your place.
- Applying your safer gambling choices and blocking automated attempts to sign in to accounts.
Performance and analytics cookies
These show us how the site is used in aggregate. We look at patterns rather than at individuals, and the reports do not identify you by name.
- Counting visits to a page and seeing which parts of the lobby are opened most often.
- Measuring how long pages take to load and where error messages appear.
Functionality cookies
These remember choices you make, so you need not set them again on every visit.
- Your language, how amounts are displayed and whether game sound is on or off.
- Games you have marked as favourites, and messages you have already closed.
Marketing cookies
These show our promotions on our own site and on other sites, and measure whether that advertising works. Some are set by partners who place advertising for us and can be read when you visit other sites.
- Limiting how often the same advert is shown to you, or reminding you of an offer you did not use.
- Telling us which partner page brought a visit, so we can pay partners correctly.
- Keeping promotions away from anyone who has self-excluded with us or registered with GamStop.
| Category | What it is for | Set without your consent? |
|---|---|---|
| Strictly necessary | Signing in, security, the cashier and safer gambling tools | Yes, the site cannot run without them |
| Performance and analytics | Counting visits and finding errors | No |
| Functionality | Remembering your settings and favourites | No |
| Marketing | Our promotions and measuring advertising | No |
How to manage cookies
You have two sets of controls: the cookie notice on our site, and the settings in your own browser.
In the cookie notice on our site
- When you first open the site, the cookie notice asks which categories you want to allow.
- Accept all, keep only what is strictly necessary, or open the settings and switch each optional category on or off.
- To change your choices later, open the cookie settings from the footer of any page.
- Your choices are stored in a cookie, so clearing your browsing data brings the notice back.
In your browser
Every major browser can block or delete cookies. The menus differ, but the steps are much the same.
- Open your browser settings and find the privacy, security or site data section.
- Choose whether to block all cookies, block only third-party cookies, or delete what is already stored.
- Use the per-site controls to allow or block cookies for our site alone rather than for every site.
- If you prefer, set the browser to clear cookies each time you close it.
Private or incognito windows discard cookies when the window closes, and your device settings may let you limit advertising identifiers in apps. Choices made in one browser or on one device do not carry across to others, so set them on each one.
On a shared device
Blocking cookies does not sign you out. If other people use the same computer or phone, sign out of your account when you have finished and clear the browsing data.
What happens if you block cookies
Blocking strictly necessary cookies stops the site working properly. We cannot switch them off for you, and we cannot provide the service without them.
- You may be unable to sign in, or you may be signed out as soon as you open a new page.
- Deposits and withdrawals may fail part-way through, because the cashier cannot carry your session from one step to the next.
- Games may not load, and settings such as language or sound return to the default each visit.
- Security checks may treat your visit as unusual, which can mean extra verification before you continue.
Turning off the optional categories has a smaller effect. Without analytics cookies the site still works, but we see less about which pages cause problems. Without functionality cookies you set your preferences again each visit. Without marketing cookies you will still see advertising, but it will not be matched to you.
Safer gambling tools rely on these cookies
Deposit limits, time-outs and self-exclusion depend on cookies in the strictly necessary category. If your browser blocks them, the site may not be able to apply those controls, which is why that category stays on.
Changes to this policy and how to reach us
We update this policy when the cookies we use change, when a partner changes what it sets, or when the law or our own practice moves on. The version on this page is the current one, and the date of the last change is shown with it.
If you want to know more about a particular cookie, want us to explain what a category does, or wish to make a request about your personal data, e-mail support@casinojammyjack.co.uk or use the live chat on the site. Tell us which browser and device you are using and we will look into it.
For help with gambling, GambleAware offers information and advice, GamCare runs the National Gambling Helpline, and GamStop lets you self-exclude from licensed online gambling sites in one step. Deposit limits, time-outs and self-exclusion are also available in your account.
